Icelandair sees 12% boost in April cargo volume

Icelandair recorded a solid performance in its cargo operations during April 2025, with freight volume – measured in Freight Ton Kilometers (FTK) – increasing by 12% compared to the same month last year.

This growth reflects the airline’s ongoing focus on enhancing its cargo services as a strategic complement to its passenger network.

Charter operations also contributed to this momentum, with sold block hours up by 82%, supporting both passenger and freight logistics.

Meanwhile, Icelandair continued its push for sustainability in operations, achieving a 3% reduction in CO2 emissions per Operational Ton Kilometer (OTK), underscoring the airline’s commitment to improving environmental performance in its cargo and overall flight operations.

The April cargo performance was delivered alongside a busy month for the airline’s passenger network, during which Icelandair operated its largest-ever April schedule and achieved a 91% on-time performance rate. This operational reliability supported the smooth handling of both passenger and freight services across the network.

Year-to-date, Icelandair continues to see strong momentum in its overall performance, with cargo remaining a key component of its multi-service model.
