Challinor joins Burges Salmon as new Dispute Resolution partner

Independent UK law firm Burges Salmon has appointed Chloe Challinor as a partner in the firm’s dispute resolution team and within its fast-growing aviation practice.

Challinor will be based in the firm’s London office and joins from Stephenson Harwood, where she was Of Counsel.

Recognised as a leading aviation lawyer in the UK, Challinor acts for airlines, travel businesses, aircraft lessors, OEMs, MROs, suppliers and insurers.

She has wide-ranging experience of representing aviation companies in relation to domestic and cross-border commercial disputes, regulatory enforcement actions, and judicial reviews and inquiries before the UK courts.

Challinor also focuses on aviation regulatory matters advising on the full ambit of UK, European and international regulations including those relating to airline licensing, airport slots, aircraft accident investigation, safety and security, maintenance and passenger rights, along with consumer and travel law.

As a member of the Royal Aeronautical Society’s Air Law Group and the International Aerospace Womens Association (IAWA), Challinor champions and advocates for greater diversity at all levels within the aviation and aerospace sectors.

Challinor said: “Burges Salmon has a stellar reputation in transport, and it’s great to see the work the firm is already undertaking in the aviation and space industries. I look forward to collaborating with the team to support our clients in these dynamic and cutting-edge sectors whilst also leveraging the firm’s networks and resources to continue promoting diversity and inclusion for a more representative and accessible aviation industry.”

Andrew Burnette, partner and head of dispute resolution at Burges Salmon, said: “Chloe is distinguished in the aviation legal landscape and we’re thrilled to have someone of her calibre joining our dispute resolution team and cross-disciplinary aviation practice.

“Chloe’s extensive experience will be invaluable to our clients as we help them navigate the many and highly complex issues facing the sector today, including the ever-evolving regulatory framework.”

Challinor will be joined by two aviation lawyers to establish her team in London: Patrick Bettle, a senior associate who also joins Burges Salmon from Stephenson Harwood, and newly-qualified solicitor Fergus McLaverty.
