Three UK aviation companies honoured with prestigious King’s Award for Enterprise

Three UK-based aviation companies – Signum Aviation, Artemis Aerospace, and GT Engine Services – have been named recipients of the 2025 King’s Award for Enterprise in the International Trade category, recognising their outstanding growth and impact on the global stage.

The King’s Awards are the most prestigious business accolades in the UK, personally approved by His Majesty The King. The honours celebrate outstanding achievements across international trade, innovation, sustainable development, and promoting opportunity.

Signum Aviation, a Chester-founded flight planning and operational support specialist, was recognised for its global footprint supporting over 300 aircraft annually. The company has grown from a one-client start-up in 2007 to an international operation with locations in Manchester, Denver, Riyadh, and Subang. “We are honoured to have been chosen for this special award,” said Jonathan Gill, managing director and founder of Signum Aviation. “It is a terrific achievement and underscores our commitment to our valued clients across the globe.”

Artemis Aerospace, based in West Sussex, was also recognised for its excellence in international trade. Founded in 1999, the 14-person team has built a reputation as a leading aviation component supplier with hubs in the US and Asia. ““This is a defining moment in the history of Artemis Aerospace,” said co-founder and managing director, Jim Scott. “This prestigious award recognises everything we and our much-valued staff have done to create a business that competes on the world stage at every level.”

GT Engine Services, part of STS Aviation Group headquartered at London Stansted Airport, an EASA 145 and FAA-approved jet engine maintenance provider, received the award for its consistent export growth and expanding global client base. Managing director Greg Macleod called the honour “a reflection of the hard work and commitment” of the team, while chief operating officer Tracey Clark praised the company’s role in showcasing British engineering expertise internationally.

Now in its 59th year, the King’s Awards for Enterprise – formerly the Queen’s Awards – remain a hallmark of excellence for UK businesses. All recipients will be entitled to use the official King’s Awards emblem for the next five years.
