TARMAC Aerosave has opened its fourth maintenance hangar at its Teruel site in Spain.
Built in just nine months, the metal-textile hangar measures 95 metres long, 85 metres wide, and nearly 34 metres high, making it the largest of its kind globally.
The structure, designed to accommodate the Airbus A380 or up to four A320s, covers over 8,000 sqm, with 7,700 sqm dedicated to aircraft maintenance and additional space for offices.
The €15 million investment brings TARMAC Aerosave’s total number of maintenance hangars to seven: four in Teruel, two in Tarbes, and one in Toulouse.
Designed by Spantech, the new hangar features a steel and aluminum frame and advanced insulation, making it fully dismantlable and reusable. Its fire-resistant PVC roof and weather-resistant design further enhance safety and durability.
This new facility will help TARMAC Aerosave manage growing demand and create 50 new jobs in Teruel, where the company already employs over 230 people.
The hangar highlights the company’s focus on sustainability, as the structure is entirely recyclable at the end of its lifecycle.
Alexandre Brun, chief executive of TARMAC Aerosave, said: “This hangar represents our ongoing commitment to supporting the growth of the aviation market, as more and more aircraft take to the skies.
“We were able to complete the construction of this hangar in a remarkably short space of time, demonstrating once again the synergy and team spirit that reign here.”
