Ryanair begins work on new €40m Dublin maintenance hangar

Ryanair has officially started construction of its new €40 million aircraft maintenance facility at Dublin Airport which it says will create over 200 new highly paid and high skilled jobs for engineers and mechanics.

The state-of-the-art four-bay hangar will span 120,000 sq ft and facilitate the heavy and line maintenance of Ryanair’s growing fleet which includes the more efficient 737-8200 aircraft.

These ‘game-changing’ aircraft are designed to carry 4% more passengers while cutting CO2 emissions by 16% and noise pollution by 40%.

Speaking at a ceremony to mark the start of construction on January 29, Neal McMahon, Ryanair‘s chief operating officer, said the new facility will be “one of the most environmentally friendly hangars in Europe” with gas absorption heat pumps, cutting energy consumption by up to 35%.
