Qatar Airways Cargo has introduced AEROSPACE, a specialised logistics solution designed to tackle Aircraft on Ground (AOG) situations by ensuring fast and secure transport of critical parts.
When aircraft face unexpected technical issues or require urgent repairs, they can be grounded until the necessary components arrive. With global air travel and cargo demand rising, quick access to replacement parts is more crucial than ever.
AEROSPACE is designed to meet these urgent needs by offering priority handling and rapid transport for essential aircraft components, from engines and avionics to landing gear and interior parts. The service is available across Qatar Airways Cargo’s extensive network, with a dedicated handling team and Control Tower support to ensure swift processing.
To further minimise downtime, the airline has introduced shock-absorbing engine transport dollies at its Doha hub, capable of carrying up to 20,000kg, along with a floating loading technique to speed up engine transfers. With its fleet of 28 Boeing 777 freighters and 230 passenger aircraft, Qatar Airways Cargo provides tail-to-tail transfers in as little as four hours and can arrange ad-hoc charters when needed.
By offering a fast, secure, and tailored AOG solution, Qatar Airways Cargo’s AEROSPACE is set to support airlines, MRO providers, and aerospace manufacturers in keeping aircraft flying with minimal disruption.
Mark Drusch, Qatar Airways chief officer cargo, said: “Time is money! That saying is particularly true when it comes to aviation in all its forms: every hour of downtime translates into lost revenue for airlines or sunk costs for aerospace projects. Factor in the additional need for safety and constant supervision, and it’s clear that our product, AEROSPACE, is the ideal solution for time-critical aviation parts and components.”
