Low-cost airline Norwegian has renewed its collaboration with Lufthansa Technik, signing a five-year extension to cover the maintenance and overhaul of 80 Boeing 737NG and 737MAX aircraft.
The extended partnership will operate under a Base Maintenance Services contract at Lufthansa Technik’s Budapest facility, commencing on August 1, 2025. Over the course of the agreement, a total of 120 scheduled maintenance checks will be performed.
As part of the deal, Norwegian will benefit from guaranteed slot availability, ensuring smooth scheduling of maintenance layovers. The contract also includes a customised commercial performance package, specifically designed to meet Norwegian’s unique operational demands.
Lufthansa Technik Budapest, one of five European overhaul locations within Lufthansa Technik’s network, will serve as the primary maintenance hub. Additionally, Norwegian will gain access to the company’s entire overhaul network, offering flexibility for unscheduled or extra maintenance as needed.
This renewal underscores Norwegian’s commitment to maintaining high operational standards and leveraging Lufthansa Technik’s extensive expertise in aircraft maintenance.

Lufthansa Technik and Norwegian have enjoyed a successful business relationship for 17 years, which began with a contract for component services and later expanded to include wheels and brakes maintenance as well as CFM56-7B engine overhauls.
Lufthansa Technik has been overhauling Norwegian’s Boeing 737NG aircraft since 2012.
