Etihad and Air Europa expand codeshare and improve global connectivity

Etihad Airways and Air Europa are to expand their existing codeshare agreement and frequent flyer cooperation to give travellers more choices and strengthen connectivity between Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.

The bilateral codeshare agreement currently in place allows members of the airlines’ frequent flyer programmes to earn and use miles on each other’s flights. Starting from summer of 2025, Etihad will operate twice-daily flights from Abu Dhabi to Air Europa’s hub airport in Madrid, so travellers will be able to capitalise further on the benefits of the partnership.

“By initiating our operations between Madrid-Barajas and Abu Dhabi, it will further extend our reach to the Middle East and Asia, opening up more possibilities to connect both regions to the Americas via Europe, while offering the highest standards of quality,” said Richard Clark, general manager of Air Europa.

As the national airline of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and a leading Spanish carrier with global reach, the partnership will be a strategic move for both companies.

Arik De, chief revenue and commercial officer of Etihad, said:  “Any partnership will work towards benefiting customers of both airlines, underscoring our commitment to providing our valued customers with a seamless travel experience and access to a wider network.”
