airBaltic Cargo, the cargo division of Latvia’s national airline, has joined forces with digital air freight platform cargo.one to enhance its global presence and streamline its booking process.
This collaboration marks a significant milestone in airBaltic Cargo’s expansion strategy and commitment to digital transformation.
Through cargo.one, freight forwarders in 134 countries will gain instant access to airBaltic Cargo’s services, enabling them to discover, quote, book, and track shipments in seconds.
The platform offers a user-friendly booking experience that is set to transform how airBaltic markets its flexible belly cargo capacity across a network of over 100 routes in the Baltics, Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, and the Caucasus.
Operating out of its main hub in Riga and additional bases in Tallinn, Vilnius, Tampere, and Gran Canaria, airBaltic Cargo is uniquely positioned to serve destinations with shorter runways often overlooked by other airlines.
Its fleet of 49 modern Airbus A220-300 aircraft – one of the youngest and most efficient in the world – is expected to grow to 100 by 2030.
This partnership aligns with airBaltic Cargo’s ambitious expansion plans, which include the upcoming launch of The Baltic Cargo Hub at Riga Airport, set to be the largest dedicated air cargo facility in the region.
Starting Winter 2024, cargo.one will offer freight forwarders access to airBaltic Cargo’s capacity for general cargo, perishables, and temperature-sensitive pharma shipments. The partnership is expected to enhance sales efficiency, reduce costs, and build brand visibility within thousands of freight-forwarding branches worldwide.
Iļja Seļiverstovs, vice president of cargo at airBaltic, said: “Digital sales is a vital driver of our cargo growth plans. It makes every sense to leverage cargo.one to expand our market reach and sales, and ensure airBaltic Cargo services remain front of mind with thousands of forwarders using the platform daily. Working alongside cargo.one, we will ensure that every customer receives the best possible end-to-end experience.”
Moritz Claussen, founder and co-chief executive of cargo.one, said: “We are thrilled to enable airBaltic Cargo to take its digital sales strategy to the next level, and our collaboration will capitalise upon its strengths in relevant markets. Forwarders rely upon cargo.one’s comprehensive global market view to discover, quote and book their air shipments, and the addition of airBaltic Cargo capacities will provide a strong option for many.”
