West Star Aviation breaks ground on Grand Junction MRO facility expansion

MRO provider West Star Aviation has officially broken ground on the expansion of its MRO facility at Grand Junction Regional Airport in Mesa County, Colorado, US.

A ceremony held on March 11 marked the beginning of the new hangar’s construction which will add 40,000 sq ft of hangar space to meet the growing demand for maintenance services, avionics installations, and interior refurbishments.

Furthermore, the project includes 38,000 sq ft of office and back-shop space, along with an extra 31,000 sq ft of ramp space.

Allen McReynolds, president and chief operations officer of West Star Aviation, said: “As we officially break ground, we look forward to the opportunities this expansion will create for our customers, employees, and the local community. The expansion at Grand Junction reflects our focus on customer needs, service excellence, and operational efficiency.”

Angela Padalecki, executive director of airport operations at Grand Junction Regional Airport, said: “West Star Aviation has been an integral part of our airport and our community. This groundbreaking is a testament to the strong partnership between the airport and West Star Aviation, and we are thrilled to see this project move forward.”

Curtis Englehart, executive director of the Grand Junction Economic Partnership (GJEP), commented: “The collaboration between West Star Aviation, GJEP, and other key stakeholders has been instrumental in making this vision a reality. We are excited to see the continued investment that this project will bring to our community.”

Designed and built in collaboration with Tectonic Management Group, construction is set to be completed in Q2 of 2026. The new facility will provide enhanced resources to support West Star Aviation’s employees, customers, and long-term growth initiatives.
