Spanish national women’s team football star Aitana Bonmatí has been made the new ambassador of Vueling.
The FC Barcelona player has won three Champions Leagues, five League titles, five Copa de la Reina and four Super Cups, while with the Spanish National Team she has won a World Cup and a Nations League.
Vueling said the partnership will raise the visibility of women’s sport to inspire a new generations “by promoting talent and offering new role models that allow us to end some of the gender prejudices that still exist in society”.
In 2024, Bonmatí achieved a clean sweep of all possible titles collectively and individually, and Vueling said she is a “model of perseverance and self-improvement” and inspiration for those who seek to achieve their dreams through discipline and dedication.
The midfielder is the reigning winner of the women’s Ballon d’Or, which she also won in 2023, and she has also been recognised in The Best FIFA Football Awards on two consecutive occasions, as well as receiving the Creu de Sant Jordi by the Government of Catalonia.
She said: “I am proud to collaborate with a company that shares values that I consider essential in life and in sport. Perseverance, teamwork and daily improvement are the key to achieving our goals and, through this alliance, I hope to inspire new generations to pursue their dreams and break barriers.”
Vueling has an existing partnership with Barça Women with one of its aircraft carrying the club’s colours throughout Europe.
Bonmatí was one of the participants in the presentation of the first customised aircraft with the team’s image at Barcelona airport last April, which saw the team become the first women’s team in Europe to have its own plane.
Sandra Hors, chief corporate affairs, brand and sustainability officer at Vueling, said: “We are very proud to welcome Aitana Bonmatí as an ambassador for Vueling.
“Aitana is a benchmark of effort, talent and leadership, and perfectly embodies the values of our company. Through this collaboration, we seek to inspire new generations and contribute to the visibility of female talent, promoting positive change in our society.
“For Vueling, supporting women’s sport is a commitment that goes beyond sponsorship: it is a commitment to equality, inclusion and talent”.
