Riyadh Air orders 60 A321neos ahead of 2025 takeoff

Saudi Arabian start-up carrier Riyadh Air has announced an order for 60 Airbus A321neo aircraft, furthering its ambitious plans to launch operations by 2025.

This move builds on Riyadh Air’s initial widebody aircraft order made in 2023, positioning the airline to strategically balance its fleet for robust network growth.

With a total of 132 aircraft now on order, Riyadh Air aims to set a new benchmark in the airline industry, particularly among startups.

The A321neo, known for its sustainability and fuel efficiency, will play a key role in supporting Riyadh Air’s environmental goals. The airline is also committed to providing a world-class travel experience, outfitting its fleet with state-of-the-art digital features, cutting-edge cabin design, and the latest in-flight entertainment and connectivity systems.

His Excellency Yasir Al-Rumayyan, PIF Governor and chairman of Riyadh Air, said: “This deal underlines the airline’s ambitious intentions in advance of next year’s launch as it builds a comprehensive international network and establishes Riyadh as a major strategic global aviation hub.”

Tony Douglas, chief executive of Riyadh Air, said: “This order will not only enable us to support economic growth in the aviation industry, it will also ensure Riyadh Air operates one of the most sustainable fleets in the industry and be instrumental in helping Saudi Arabia achieve its net-zero emissions goals.
