Aircraft engineering and MRO services provider HAECO and Shanghai Aircraft Customer Service Co. Ltd. (SACSC), a subsidiary of Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC), have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on airframe, engine and component services.
The partnership aims to address the growing maintenance demands of COMAC platforms such as ARJ21 and C919.
HAECO provides comprehensive aircraft engineering services covering airframe, engine and component solutions. The group comprises 16 operating companies, employing around 15,000 staff in Hong Kong, the Chinese Mainland, Europe, and the Americas.
COMAC, as an aircraft manufacturer implementing large passenger aircraft programmes in China, is engaged in the research, manufacture and flight tests of civil aircraft and related products, as well as marketing, servicing, leasing and operations of civil aircraft.
HAECO currently provides services for COMAC’s platforms, including base maintenance capabilities for the ARJ21 and C919, and has committed to further develop capabilities for the CF34-10A engine and ARJ21 landing gear by 2025. HAECO has also established expertise in the C919 evacuation slide through its components division.
Richard Sell, chief executive of HAECO Group, said: “HAECO and COMAC have been working together for many years, especially in our Xiamen training facility where over 2,700 COMAC student courses have taken place.
“This collaboration reflects our commitment in supporting the long-term growth of COMAC, its customers and the broader aviation industry. We appreciate the trust COMAC has placed in us and we look forward to strengthening our relationship. I would also like to congratulate COMAC in opening its SACSC Hong Kong Office today.”
The organisations claim that the partnership marks a significant step forward in enhancing aircraft maintenance capabilities in the region, ensuring that both firms can effectively support the evolving landscape of the aviation industry.
