JetBlue names new head of system operations and airports

JetBlue has announced its appointment of Steve Olson as its new head of system operations and airports, who will be reporting directly to the chief operating officer, Warren Christie.

The airline states that Olson will take a holistic approach to customer experience and operation in his new role, by aligning its systems operations and airport functions in an effort to improve communication and informed decision-making.

“As we continue to strengthen our operation and enhance the customer experience, Steve’s leadership will be instrumental in driving collaboration between our system operations and airport teams,” said Christie.

Olson’s career has spanned over 20 years, starting as an airline maintenance technician for the national guard and most recently, serving as the vice president of JetBlue’s systems operations centre when he joined in 2022.

In that position, he made significant progress in the airline’s on-time performance and improved recovery from disruptions and introduced an operational modernisation effort which featured the addition of new state-of-the-art aircraft and flight planning systems.

Later this year, a new crew management system will also go live as part of this initiative.

“His expertise in operational planning, real-time decision-making, and continuous improvement will help ensure we’re delivering safe, reliable and seamless travel for our customers,” said Christie.
