Icelandair and TAP Air Portugal have expanded their long-standing partnership with a codeshare agreement.
The codeshare partnership will come into effect in the coming weeks allowing airline customers to connect between the airlines’ networks in one ticket with their luggage checked to their final destination.
TAP flies to 90 destinations around the world, including within Europe, Africa and South America. Icelandair’s route network spans around 60 destinations in Europe and North America.
Both airlines are known for their stopover programmes, offering passengers the opportunity to experience the airlines’ home countries on their way between destinations, at no additional airfare.
Bogi Nils Bogason, chief executive of Icelandair, said: “We are excited to add TAP to our impressive list of codeshare partners. We recently started services to Lisbon and by sharing a code with TAP, we will be able to greatly increase connectivity for both airlines’ customers.
“Customers travelling from Iceland can stop over in Lisbon on their way onwards to TAP’s impressive list of destinations. TAP’s customers can fly via Lisbon to Iceland and even onwards to Icelandair’s extensive network.”
Luís Rodrigues, chief executive of TAP Air Portugal, said: “We believe that this partnership with Icelandair will enrich the portfolio of travel choices and destinations we offer to customers throughout our network.
“As we partner with Icelandair, we will be able to offer seamless flight journeys to Iceland, one of the most exciting travel destinations, and open our comprehensive network of destinations available from our Lisbon hub to all Icelandair customers. We look forward to working together with Icelandair for the benefits of all travel lovers.”
