Avianca Cargo achieves Cargo iQ certification for first time

Colombian cargo carrier Avianca Cargo has officially obtained Cargo iQ certification just over a year after rejoining the organisation as a full member.

The certification process was driven by the Avianca Transformation team, tasked with enhancing the company’s Quality Management System. Following a rigorous audit, Avianca Cargo successfully met the standards required for certification.

Avianca Cargo’s journey with Cargo iQ began in 2014 when it joined as an associate member. After a brief departure in 2020, the carrier returned in July 2023 with a renewed commitment to adopting Cargo iQ’s quality standards and securing its certification.

The company was also recognised for its dedication to corporate social responsibility and its innovative approach, key attributes highlighted in the Cargo iQ Classification programme.

Laura Rodriguez, manager of implementationand quality assurance at Cargo iQ, said: “We are glad to see that the Cargo iQ methodology is enabling Avianca to deliver reliable service quality within air cargo and now the company has the certification to show it.”

“The Quality Journey doesn’t stop here and we at Cargo iQ are committed to accompanying Avianca Cargo and the team on the next steps.”

Cargo iQs audit included an offline review of documentation and an online call with an external auditor.

Avianca Cargo has committed to continuously improving their air cargo processes and service offerings by implementing Cargo iQs quality standards and will undertake semi-annual reviews, in collaboration with the operations team, to ensure that the GHA station performance is being reflected properly in the shipment planning parameters.

Eduardo Arenas, director of alliances, strategy and transformation at Avianca Cargo, said: “With over 50 years of experience, our company embraces the challenges of the future by leveraging our strengths and commitment to innovation. We are committed to high-quality operational standards and utilise the latest advancements in quality through Cargo iQ, to shape the future of air cargo.”
