The flag carrier of Colombia, Avianca, has brought on new chief commercial officer (CCO), Otto Gergye, as part of its efforts to improve the company’s commercial strategy and customer flying experience.
Gergy’s career in the tourism and aviation industry has spanned over 20 years, as he previously served as the CCO for Fiji Airways, vice president of consulting services at Sabre, and most recently as revenue director for Thai Airways, among various other jobs.
He will succeed Manuel Ambriz, who served in the position from 2021, and said the goal is still, “to make Avianca an airline for everyone—from those seeking competitive fares to those preferring a premium product.”
Frederico Pereira, chief executive of Avianca, said: “Our focus remains on putting customers at the centre of our products and services, ensuring they have the freedom to choose how they fly. We are confident that his leadership will help us continue our goal of being a competitive and efficient airline.”
A recent addition to its team, Gergye also said he is, “very proud to join Avianca to continue strengthening the company’s strategy across different areas, working with a top-tier team to fulfill our value promise to all customers.”
