7Air announces new CEO

7Air, a dedicated cargo airline with a fleet of B737-800 freighters, has appointed Michael Mendez as its new chief executive to oversee all aspects of its operations.

Mendez will focus on regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and long-term growth, and brings over four decades of aviation leadership and operational expertise to the role.

Prior to joining 7Air, Mendez served as chief operating officer of 21 Air where he spent more than 12 years helping to build and expand the airline’s operational footprint. Additionally, Mendez previously held the role of chief executive at 21 Air, further demonstrating his breadth of leadership experience and strategic vision. Mendez played a critical role in the successful certification of 21 Air by both the US Department of Transportation (DOT) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Throughout his 40+ year career, Mendez has held a broad range of leadership roles across the aviation industry, including multiple FAA-required 119 appointments. His extensive experience spans Part 121 and Part 135 operations, as well as certifications for maintenance and repair facilities.

Known for his collaborative and solutions-oriented approach, Mendez maintains strong working relationships with the FAA Certificate Management Team and other regulatory bodies.

Amos Rodríguez, accountable executive of 7Air, said: “Michael’s deep operational background, proven leadership, and regulatory expertise make him the ideal choice to lead 7Air into its next chapter. His commitment to safety, compliance, and strategic growth will be key as we continue to scale our operations and enhance our service capabilities.”
