Icelandic low-cost carrier PLAY Airlines has unveiled two major developments that reinforce its commitment to enhancing the travel experience for its customers.
In partnership with InterLnkd, the airline has launched a dynamic pre-travel shopping platform, offering curated fashion, beauty, and essential products for travellers in both Europe and North America.
The platform will feature high-end and popular brands such as Marks & Spencer, WHSmith, Selfridges, and Bloomingdale’s, making the airline the first to offer this service to North American travellers.
Simultaneously, PLAY Airlines announced the expansion of its PLAY Connect platform through a new partnership with easyJet, enabled by Dohop’s alternative interlining technology.
This collaboration adds more than 350 new city pairs, offering customers access to an expanded network of destinations across Europe and beyond, streamlining the booking process and making it easier to plan connected flights.
Sonja Arnórsdóttir, chief commercial officer of PLAY Airlines, said: “Our new e-commerce platform, powered by InterLnkd, will bring a new level of convenience to our passengers. Being the first airline to offer this service to US customers underscores our commitment to innovation and enhancing the travel experience. We’re confident this new feature will add real value to travellers looking to stock up on vacation essentials before heading to Iceland or across the Atlantic.”
Tatiana Shirokova, head of distribution at PLAY Airlines, said: “With Dohop’s alternative interlining technology, we are not just expanding our network; we’re transforming the way our customers travel. The inclusion of easyJet into PLAY Connect allows us to provide an extensive range of destinations while ensuring a seamless and cost-effective travel experience.”
Dawn Hardwick, easyJet’s global lead strategic airline partnerships and connectivity, said: “At easyJet we’re committed to making travel as easy as possible as well as providing great value and more choice for our customers when they fly with us so we are delighted to be on PLAY Connect’s platform.
“With our strong presence at Europe’s leading airports, we are now able to offer connecting passengers on PLAY Airlines greater access to our route network connecting Europe’s primary airports with great value fares and friendly service.”
