SK AeroSafety Group expands global reach with acquisition of John Cameron Aviation

SK AeroSafety Group has completed the acquisition of John Cameron Aviation for an undisclosed sum.

The global MRO component services provider said the deal “underscores its commitment to expanding its service offerings and bolstering its position within the global aerospace community”.

SK AeroSafety Group generates over €100 million in revenue annually and more than 450 skilled engineers across its global operations of 16 service centres including Los Angeles and Sydney.

The John Cameron Aviation deal was supported by SK Aerosafety parent Bridgepoint, which acquired the company in 2023 via Bridgepoint Development Capital, a lower middle-market fund focused on supporting fast-growing businesses across Europe.

John Cameron Aviation was founded by Australian pioneer John Cameron who gained fame for flying a Tiger Moth under the Sydney Harbour Bridge to honour fellow countryman and aviation legend Syd Marshall.

Having initially worked on the manufacture of the Australian agricultural ‘Cropmaster’ aircraft John Cameron Aviation emerged as the leading supplier of HTL Fire Suppression Bottles.

The capability and service offering of the business has since expanded into oxygen cylinders, oxygen masks, restraints and helicopter maintenance.

Ben Te Beek, chief executive of SK AeroSafety Group, said: “By integrating John Cameron Aviation into the SK AeroSafety Group, we are enhancing our ability to deliver innovative solutions to our clients while continuing to invest in our people and operations.

“This acquisition not only strengthens our service capabilities but also ensures we remain a leader in the ever-evolving aerospace sector.”

David MacKenzie, partner at Bridgepoint, added: “We’re proud to support SK AeroSafety Group’s continued international growth, including today’s acquisition of John Cameron Aviation.

“This addition brings valuable expertise and regional capability that will further strengthen SK AeroSafety’s positioning as a global leader in the aviation safety component maintenance, repair and overhaul services market.”
