TARMAC Aerosave has extended its contract with Safran Aircraft Engines, reinforcing their collaboration in engine maintenance.
This latest agreement signed at this week’s MRO Middle East event in Dubai formalises the continued partnership between the two companies, focusing on the installation of the Reverse Bleed System (RBS) on CFM LEAP-1A engines.
The RBS system, an exclusive innovation by CFM International, helps mitigate carbon build-up on fuel nozzles, reducing on-wing replacements and lowering maintenance costs. For operators, this translates into longer operational time and reduced expenses.
TARMAC Aerosave delivered its first RBS-equipped engine in April 2024. In September 2024, its specialised ‘flying team’ performed its first off-site RBS installation in Malta. These off-site operations are ongoing, further enhancing support for Safran Aircraft Engines.
With expertise in on-wing, near-wing, in-shop, and off-site maintenance, TARMAC Aerosave has already completed over 360 CFM LEAP-1A and LEAP-1B events, including Radial Drive Shaft (RDS) changes. More RBS installations are scheduled in the coming weeks.
Beyond RBS installations, TARMAC Aerosave’s ‘flying team’ continues to assist customers with engine and landing gear replacements, both on-site and off-site, reinforcing its role as a key player in aircraft maintenance.
Alexandre Brun, chief executive of TARMAC Aerosave, said: “TARMAC Aerosave was the first MRO to be ready for RBS installations. It demonstrates our ability to adapt to the market and our comittment to offer a leading-edge service to our customers. This approval completes our capabilities list for the CFM LEAP engines family and confirms our strong cooperation with our shareholder Safran Aircraft Engines.”
David Pineau, head of MRO purchasing at Safran Aircraft Engines, said: “Our company is proud to extend our collaboration with TARMAC Aerosave, we have already completed a first RBS program installation and TARMAC Aerosave strengthens our global MRO network to provide our airline customers with the best solutions for optimising their operations.”
