ECS Group to drive Thai Airways cargo growth in Sweden and Denmark

Thai Airways has appointed ECS Group, through its subsidiary HWF Scandinavia and Finland, as its exclusive General Sales and Services Agent (GSSA) for cargo operations in Sweden and Denmark, effective 15 May 2025.

The move reinforces a trusted long-term partnership while opening a new chapter focused on expanding air cargo presence in Northern Europe.

The decision underscores Thai Airways’ confidence in ECS Group’s cargo expertise, international reach, and local market intelligence.

With tailored strategies and a dedicated cargo focus, the partnership is designed to strengthen Thai Airways’ commercial performance and logistics offering across the Nordic region.

From Scandinavia, Thai Airways operates daily widebody services from Stockholm (Airbus A350) and Copenhagen (Boeing 777) to Bangkok, offering seamless cargo connections to key Asia-Pacific destinations, including high-frequency links to Australia and Southeast Asia. This provides reliable capacity and swift transit times for a broad range of commodities, including pharmaceuticals, perishables, electronics, and vulnerable (VUN) shipments.

Under the agreement, HWF will handle all cargo sales and customer service operations for the two countries. Beyond transactional support, the team will implement targeted market strategies, offering shippers agile solutions and sector-specific expertise that reflect the distinct needs of Nordic exporters and forwarders.

Thai Airways said: “ECS Group has been a valuable partner for Thai Airways across multiple markets, and this new chapter in Sweden and Denmark builds on years of mutual trust and collaboration. The combination of local knowledge, operational excellence, and strategic thinking that ECS brings through HWF gives us the confidence that we will continue to stand out in competitive Nordic markets – not just as a carrier, but as a true logistics partner.”

Adding to the momentum, ECS Group’s integration of CargoTech digital solutions brings Thai Airways customers access to dynamic pricing, real-time tracking, performance analytics, and optimised booking flows – enhancing visibility and efficiency across the cargo journey.

With this strengthened partnership, Thai Airways is positioning itself as a leading cargo carrier in Northern Europe – offering not just space, but smart, scalable logistics solutions tailored to the region’s evolving demands.

Jean Ceccaldi, chief executive of ECS Group, said: “This isn’t just another GSSA appointment, it’s a demonstration of how Thai Airways and ECS Group together deliver value far beyond capacity – through expertise, technology, and a deep-rooted commitment to customer success.”

Torbjörn Lundblad, managing director of HWF Scandinavia and Finland, said: “Our team is deeply invested in this market. We know the customers, we understand their cargo, and we’re ready to bring Thai Airways even closer to their needs. We’re honoured by the trust placed in us and excited for what’s ahead.”
