Users of the leading Descartes transport management system (TMS) can now quote and book air cargo thanks to a tie-up with the cargo.one digital platform.
The Descartes’ TMS now includes cargo.one’s Air Freight Integration Module, allowing freight forwarders to search, compare, quote and book capacity with directly in the TMS.
Air freight booking details are automatically uploaded into the freight forwarder’s Descartes solution, removing the need for manual data entry and making shipment management and tracking easier and faster.
The partnership has gone live meaning customers of Descartes’ TMS can procure air freight rates on demand via cargo.one. Users also have the option to upgrade to cargo.one pro.
Kenneth Wood, executive vice president of product management, at Descartes, said: “Integrating cargo.one’s global carrier connectivity within our TMS helps customers gain ground in delivery performance, differentiate themselves from competitors, and grow their revenue.

Cargo.one is available in 134 countries and connects over 25,000 forwarders to rate providers including over 65 airlines and popular general sales and service agents (GSSAs).
Accessing cargo.one’s global airline integrations directly from Descartes is expected to provide forwarders with benefits including an on-demand, comprehensive overview of relevant and competitive rates, simplified data handling, increased accuracy and greatly reduced manual data entry.
Cargo.one said this will result in “a stronger capability to win shipments faster and serve customers better”.
