Saudia and Amadeus extend distribution agreement to drive traveller-centric vision

Saudia, the national carrier of Saudi Arabia, has extended its agreement with global GDS Amadeus to cover New Distribution Capability content.

Amadeus said the new deal, which will begin in the first quarter of 2025, marks “a significant milestone in Saudia’s transformation journey”.

Saudia will deploy its NDC-sourced content, enabling travel sellers to access a more extensive range of airline products and services.

This includes dynamic offers  and hyper-personalisation capabilities, which will enhance the travel experience for Saudia’s passengers.

Saudia is an existing user of the Amadeus Altéa NDC that will enable content integration into the Amadeus Travel Platform.

Travel sellers worldwide will be provided with a “fully synchronised, end-to-end process with better transparency and enhanced servicing”, said Amadeus.

The new deal aligns with the Saudi Arabian flag carrier’s long-term vision to become an integrated retailer, being traveller-centric across all distribution channels.

Last year the carrier entered into a contract to use the Amadeus Nevio retailing system to achieve its ambitions.

Arved von Zur Muehlen, chief commercial officer at Saudia, said, “This extension of our agreement with Amadeus is  testament to our commitment to leveraging advanced technology to enhance our services for our guests and enhance their travel experience.

“It aligns perfectly with our contribution to the Saudi Vision 2030 goals and our ongoing transformation journey.”

Maher Koubaa, executive vice president, airlines, Middle East, Turkey, and Africa, at Amadeus, added:

“We are excited to continue our close collaboration and partnership with Saudia. This agreement underscores our dedication not only to drive NDC adoption at scale but demonstrates our unwavering commitment to the digital transformation of the travel industry, enabling modern retailing that benefits airlines, travel sellers and travellers.”
