ACMI leasing service provider, KlasJet, has received an extension of its EASA Part 145 certification, now covering Boeing 737 Next Generation (737NG) line maintenance.
This certification empowers KlasJet to conduct in-house maintenance on its fleet of 737NG aircraft, streamlining operations and reducing reliance on external maintenance providers.
Aivaras Svirplys, technical director of KlasJet, said: “Earning our own Part 145 certification was an investment in our personnel to ensure we have a highly skilled team and strict compliance with regulations behind every operation. The extension of the approval allows us to reduce cost as we will no longer need to depend on outside organisations to improve turnaround time for optimal fleet utilisation.”
The shortage of qualified maintenance professionals is a pressing industry challenge, with Oliver Wyman forecasting a 48,000-worker deficit by 2027. This gap may lead to limited maintenance capacity and increased aircraft downtime. By securing the certification extension, KlasJet can address maintenance issues swiftly and independently.
Svirplys added: “The approval will enhance the operational flexibility as we will be able to keep our fleet airworthy and address maintenance problems ourselves. Given the shortage of workers in the industry, the in-house capability eliminates our dependence on a limited timeline of short-staffed maintenance facilities.”
KlasJet operates a fleet of eight Boeing 737-800s, equipped with CFM56 engines, to provide both VIP charter and ACMI services, along with five Boeing 737 Classics, all modified to deliver a premium travel experience.
